Poets are not the only ones who can speak on love. No, Puccini and his librettists not only spoke of it, they sang and staged it with one of the most famous operas ever created. The poet Rodolfo falls madly in love with Mimi, a seamstress, in 1830s Paris. She’s a flirty one, that Mimi, and so Rodolfo may leave her. But, what’s this? She’s mortally ill? And has Rodolfo contributed to her illness? Will their true love stand the trials and tribulations of their lives? The world premiere of La Bohème was in Turin Italy, February 1, 1896, conducted by a young Arturo Toscanini. Since, it is one of the most frequently performed operas spanning the globe.
